I'm not a big fan of the overall form of these installations except the box one with gold interior. Something deluxe about the GOLD! Also the almost pixelated look of shifting boxes is kind of cool. But what I do appreciate in all of them is the monolithic look.
I love the MOS puppet theater Taka posted earlier because it has both the monolithic look AND an amorphous form. But it is made of like 15000 (ok not sure how many but a LOT) customized plastic panels, which I heard cost about 50k to fabricate. =O
Anyways, what are your takes on the construction system and material?
Should we set up some criteria on what it should be?
From what the competition brieft asks for, it needs to be
1) weather proof
2) sustainable/recyclable/borrowed = cheap? = I have no idea how much they want to spend
3) easily transportable
from my personal preference, it could
4) be used for walls, ceiling and flooring
5) have potential of self-supporting (and books!)
6) be easily customized
Thoughts?
